FOCUS DAY 14:
HEAVENLY CONVERSATION 14: “Who over What; Relationships over Tasks."
KEY: F (God the Father Speaking);J (God the Son, Jesus Speaking); S (God the Holy Spirit Speaking) [Read the verse(s) and “Heavenly Conversation” as a family. Suggestion: Choose a different family member to read each part of God’s conversation.]
F “Christmas is about relationships! Unlike man-made gods, or other gods of history, we are unique when it comes to our nature. We are one God, yet three Persons – God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.”
J “So it makes sense that relationships would be such an important image for our creation to have to be like us!”
S “Relationships, which is at the heart of serving in love, is one of my God-the-Spirit images; it is part of everyone’s behavioral dimension(soma - body). I want them to know and experience the importance of relationships in their life stories. People need people. It is my gift!”
F “When people choose to have healthy, love-centered relationships, it links them to their belonging and their design, two of my other love-images.”
J “Relationships are key to experiencing joy. Greater than accomplishments, possessions, power, or passions is the joy found in relationships. Knowing and sharing with others makes life truly meaningful! Selfishness is lonely!
S “You showed us, Jesus, the importance of serving others in building, maintaining, enjoying, and/or restoring healthy relationships – with us, others, and themselves.”
F “Paul got it, too! He wrote to the Romans, ‘For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.’”
J “Satan will lie and try to get people to think they can ‘never get along with or trust others’, or that ‘they don’t need others.’ These are not true! They are his lies.”
S “Mary and Joseph worked out their struggles and never gave up on their promises to love each other or us.”
F “The wise men decided to work as a team, too.”
J “Because relationships are based on our images of love, they are always a choice. Not even we will force them.”
S “That’s why we can relate even to those who reject us.”
F “Yes. Paul also knew this. Remember he wrote, ‘But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. [Romans 5:8]”
J “Our love is always there to know those we have made! Christmas is such a good time to enjoy relationships. Love can transform the relationship in any life story. Even when someone rejects a believer, they can still be loved.”
S “Christmas is also a good time to begin restoring them! It is a season where people are reminded to serve each other. Christmas is a wonderful time to reach out to others in so many ways! Let’s hope they do it this year!”
F “That was my intention!”
Romans 12:3;Romans 5:8; “For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.” Romans 12:3
