FOCUS DAY 16:
Rewards of Trusting
HEAVENLY CONVERSATION 16: “Promises are Promises."
KEY: F (God the Father Speaking);J (God the Son, Jesus Speaking); S (God the Holy Spirit Speaking) [Read the verse(s) and “Heavenly Conversation” as a family. Suggestion: Choose a different family member to read each part of God’s conversation.]
F “Christmas is about needs! Everyone has needs.”
J “My gift is to provide for everyone’s needs; that closely ties to my gift of freedom. I can be trusted for both!”
S “The freedom to choose how they meet their needs?”
F “Yes, and their choices here shape their life stories.”
J “My role in meeting needs, which involves their entire person – body, soul, and spirit, is one of my God-the-Son images; it is part of everyone’s behavioral dimension(soma – body). It impacts all of their needs in life. I want to be the first person they talk with when they decide how to meet any of their needs – no matter how small.”
S “Agreed, everyone has lots of needs – physical, emotional, economic, social, spiritual, etc. I help with the discipline needed to keep their needs in check and bring balance to their life. We work as a team.”
F “I designed their needs to be linked to both desires and appetites. Undisciplined appetites can lead to meeting needs in harmful ways. Everyone needs to learn to distinguish between their needs and wants.”
J “Not all wants are needs, and not all needs are wants. My promise is to meet their needs first and then wants - when they are helpful, of course. I like to meet both needs and wants. I want them to ask for both.”
S “You can be trusted, and that is the best security anyone can have. Your resources are unlimited.”
F “Trusting in you, Jesus, removes fears and insecurity.”
J “Paul believed my promises to fully meet all his genuine needs. He wrote, ‘But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.’”
S “That should comfort believers not to listen to Satan’s lies when he chants, ‘You can never have enough’, or ‘Your needs can never be fully met’. Paul spoke the TRUTH.”
F “If someone believes these lies, their fears can make it hard for them to come to us. We want everyone to talk with us for their need-filling choices. We offer guidance in our Word, from other believers, and directly in their hearts when they speak to us in prayer.”
J “Believe me. I care and want believers to feel secure.”
S “Trusting our Christmas gifts of forgiveness, freedom, and fulfillment is the best place to start for meeting needs.”
F “It is so natural to just live life without us, and to not think to ask and/or wait. It starts with asking, you know.”
J “Exactly. I had to remind my disciples, ‘Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.’ [John 16:24] I want everyone to trust me to meet their deepest needs.”
S “I pray that every believer will come to us all during this Christmas with all their needs – and ask!”
F J “We do too!”
Philippians 4:19; John 16:24 “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19
