FOCUS DAY 20:
HEAVENLY CONVERSATION 20: “Not ‘where’, but ‘who’ you are."
KEY: F (God the Father Speaking);J (God the Son, Jesus Speaking); S (God the Holy Spirit Speaking) [Read the verse(s) and “Heavenly Conversation” as a family. Suggestion: Choose a different family member to read each part of God’s conversation.
F “Christmas is about fit! Some of the happiest people live in the humblest of circumstances – where a person finds themselves does not determine their contentment!”
J “I want everyone to stop complaining like the wandering Israelites did. [Genesis through Numbers] It gets them nowhere in the long run and they never find any joy.”
S “It would help if everyone better understood fit. It is one of my God-the-Spirit images; it is part of everyone’s life-motivational dimension(pneuma – spirit) and can give them the ability to find fulfillment in any circumstance.”
F “It is easy to blame circumstances and others for their misery. The reality is that when we gave them choices because of love, they are responsible for those choices.”
J “Dale Carnegie popularized the simple idea that ‘If life gives you lemons, make lemonade’, but it really came from our TRUTH that believers can choose to ‘fit’ anywhere - if they experience our strength and confidence, of course.”
S “That’s right. Rather than complain, we want to inspire believers to change those around them, and to be the ones who influence others for good. They can choose to reject Satan’s lies, sinful habits, and poor attitudes of others and their surroundings.”
J “They can learn to love and be loved ‘wherever’ they find themselves if they ask us for ways to express and discover it. We can help them understand their calling and purpose. We can help them put the all pieces of their lives together. We can give peace – if they ask us for it.”
F “Fit is part of their life’s legacy. They do not have to please others to be fulfilled. Pleasing us with their life’s choices and fit brings glory to us, and that is the most important legacy they can leave for their family and others to enjoy and remember them by.”
J “Paul gave believers the formula to make it happen when he encouraged thinking on things that are true, honest, just, lovely, and of good report. [Philippians 4:8]”
F “I hope they read it! He most definitely understood the love-image of ‘fit’ and how it leads to fulfillment.”
J “What if, this Christmas, instead of complaining, everyone focused on these things - like Paul suggested?”
F “This just may be their best Christmas yet!”
Philippians 4:8,11; “Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.” Philippians 4:11
